'Rowdy' Roddy Piper: The Kilted Avenger! is going to be epic.

'Rowdy' Roddy Piper is being resurrected in a new comic book.

On July 31st, 2015, wrestling and movie fans alike were left devastated by the news of ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper’s passing.

A beloved figure both in and out of the ring, Piper is probably best remembered for his stint in WWE and his role in the John Carpenter cult classic They Live.

An action hero of the highest order, Piper, born Roderick George Toombs, was just 61 when he died, leaving behind a legacy few other wrestlers could rival.

It’s a legacy that continues to inspire fans even today as the plans for ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper: The Kilted Avenger! demonstrate.

A new comic book project featuring the wrestling legend, it’s being put together by writer Dominic Rizzio along with illustrator Eric Hodson for Mess Bucket Comics.

The perfect tribute to the larger-than-life grappler and actor, the official synopsis for the new comic book series reads:

“The greatest wrestler of all time, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, is back with a fun story where he fights to save the world from the tyranny of Ruth S. Heel. Roddy is a talk show host by day and vigilante by night that will stop at nothing to bring his brand of justice.”

Several fellow wrestlers have given their support to the project, with the likes of Buff Bagwell, Simon Gotch, Victoria, Teddy Long, Lanny ‘The Genius’ Poffo, The Blue Meanie and Colt Cabana all endorsing the plans.

Most significantly of all, the project has been given the thumbs up by Kitty Toombs, Rowdy’s wife, who even appears in the comic.

The ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper: The Kilted Avenger! comic needs the help of the fans though, which is why the creators have set up an IndieGoGo fund to get them involved.

Anyone supporting the cause can look forward to exclusive copies of the comic along with specially-designed t-shirts.

With a release date set for some time early in 2020, anyone keen to see Piper in comic book form should head over to the IndieGoGo page here.
