Fashion is usually guilty of coming up with ridiculous concepts and charging way too much for them. These “pre-dirtied” trainers are no different.
Luxury clothing brand Vetements has collaborated with Reebok to release a pair of what they are calling the “genetically modified pump,” though we’re not sure how one would modify the nonexistent genes of a nonliving object.
The only thing “modified” about these shoes are the colour which is dirty white, literally. They look like old school shoes that have been tossed around in some dirt.
Probably the most ridiculous aspect of this new trend is the price point, though they have yet to be priced we’re almost sure the average joe won’t be able to afford them. We’re guessing close to £600.
Vetements has in the past sold a t-shirt resembling a DHL worker’s uniform for £185. Knowing this, the dirty trainers are sure to be exorbitant. Adding to that is an “Eastpak” backpack that costs £695.
This isn’t the first time the two brands have collaborated to create something pretentious; they released a pair of doodled on trainers earlier this year for the bargain price of £595.
If you’re unable to afford such items then we suggest taking a sharpie to your old trainers; you’ll be a fashionista in no time.
