The end is in sight for Dominic Toretto and his Fast and the Furious “family”.

Producers behind the franchise affectionately known as “Car Wars” have confirmed that the series will end after “one final trilogy” which apparently began with The Fate of the Furious.

Neal Moritz, who served as producer on Fast 8, revealed as much in an interview with Collider, where he also confirmed plans are in place to make two more films.

“We have some big themes and things we’re talking about, we’re just not there in terms of where exactly we’re gonna go yet. We kind of have the ending point of the franchise, but we don’t know the in-betweens yet,” he said.

Given the fact that [SPOILER ALERT] Charlize Theron’s character Cipher made a speedy getaway at the end of the previous entry, she could yet feature prominently in the final two films.

However, Theron has also been linked with an appearance in a proposed Fast and Furious spin-off movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham – something strongly hinted at in Fast 8.

The movie is likely to see the pairing of The Rock and Statham teaming up against a common foe – possibly Theron.

In any case, the Fast and the Furious is unlikely to be entirely over by the time a 10th film arrives and loaded definitely wouldn’t rule out a Dom Toretto movie at some point in the near future too.
