Every little helps: West Ham to name new stadium after Tesco

Tesco Arena? We don't see it.

Football took on a new leap of crazy, if that is even possible anymore, when reports leaked that West Ham were going to sell their naming rights to Tesco!

The popular superstore is reportedly going to pay £1 million for the privilege.

West Ham had played their football at the Boleyn Ground (also known as Upton Park), but at the back end of last season they decided they had enough of that area and wanted a move. Subsequently, London’s Olympic Stadium will be their new home from 2016/17.

That move itself hasn’t been well received with fans and locals upset at the business it was taking away from the area to the more metropolitan Stratford. But fans could be tipped over the edge with this news.

To be fair it’s better then being called a Lidl club.

We’ll get our coats.

On the field it hasn’t been much better for the Hammers either. West Ham were defeated by lowly Slovenian side NK Domzale in the Europa League but they do have an away goal after losing 2-1.

Every little helps though… okay we’re really leaving this time.
