A West Ham fan by the name of Stuart has gone viral after phoning in to Talksport to call for David Moyes to be sacked as Hammers boss… after just one game.
But it gets better: Stuart also reckons that Irons midfielder Mark Noble is the man to replace him with – and this is the really insane part – actor and West Ham fan Ray Winstone as his assistant.
It’s fair to say that West Ham have not enjoyed the most auspicious of starts under Moyes, losing 2-0 away to Marco Silva’s Watford. But there were some slight glimmers of hope with Cheikhou Kouyate guilty of missing two great chances while Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes was in fine form.
The appointment of Moyes, who comes into the job have taken Sunderland down to the Championship, was not well received by fans. Even so, TalkSport presenter Andy Goldstein was left stunned by Stuart’s call. “David Moyes, mate,” Stuart began, “it’s time for him to go, I think.”
Stuart was keen to qualify his comments though – after all, one game is a pretty short reign by any manager’s standards. “Listen mate, in this day and age, when you bring in that manager to have this kind of rescue mission, you need to get off to a good start.”
Making a good start usually helps, but plenty of new managers have lost their first game in charge before going on to turn the tide of negative results. Stuart was having none of it though.

“And this guy has come in and he’s lost his first game and I’ve seen the lack of passion today. I’ve never seen anything like it mate.” Fear not, West Ham fans, because Stuart has a fool proof plan to turn things around.
“What I want to see is an East London lad taking charge… Mark Noble, right – listen, I telling you now right. He’d get the passion out of the players.”
Asked whether he would consider taking Pep Guardiola if he became interested in the West Ham job, Stuart was steadfast in his approach, reminding Goldstein that the Spaniard is “not from the area, mate… He’ll never get any passion out of them boys.” But the best was yet to come.
“Ray Winstone could be assistant in some form. I wouldn’t rule it out.” In the aftermath of Talksport tweeting out the call, most fans on social media seemed to think the whole thing was just a big hoax, a spoof, if you will.
But anyone who tuned into the phone-in show knew that wasn’t the case, which only made the entire debacle that bit more astonishing.
It’s not even the first time a West Ham fan has got on the phone to voice their concerns about the club and Moyes – earlier this week, the Police called on Hammers supporters to stop calling 999 with complaints about the team.
