Wonder Woman has been a major success and so far has earned £79 million at the box-office. Adding to that is the fact that the film is also the highest-grossing opening weekend for a female director.
Now that it’s been established that yes women are bankable and female superheroes can stand alone, all we want to know is, when is the sequel?
Warner Bros has yet to greenlight another film officially, but judging by the fact that both director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot are contractually obligated to make another one, we figure it’s only a matter of time.
In fact, Jenkins already knows where it will be set, “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time,” the director told Entertainment Weekly.
Regarding time frame, many fans are hoping she stays in the past, and Diana Prince faces a new set of foes during World War II.
“I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing,”
Wonder Woman was first created in 1941 by William Moulton Marston so it may only be right to honour her originator by setting the next installment there. Though we’re sure that whatever Jenkins decides will be right for the story she wants to tell.
Either way, Diana Prince is back in theatres for Justice League this November. We. Can’t. Wait.
