There has been heaps of speculation around the Katy Perry breakout hit, “I Kissed A Girl.” Many fans have asked, who did she write the tune about exactly? Well, now we know.
Miley Cyrus revealed on 103.5KTU’s Cubby and Carolina in the Morning that the subject of the pop hit was her.
A slightly uncomfortable notion, considering that “I Kissed A Girl” came out nine years ago, which would have made the 24-year-old Cyrus, a teenager at the time of this supposed kiss, Katy Perry has some serious explaining to do.
Miley seemed unfazed and explained how she found out she was the inspiration behind the cheeky song, “When she came out with I Kissed a Girl, I was doing the Hannah Montana Movie, and I heard her on the radio, and they said, ‘Who’d you write that about?’ And she said me. And I was on a four-wheeler.”
“We had a radio attached to the four-wheeler. I heard it and started screaming and freaking out,” she told the radio hosts.
Nevertheless, it makes for a great story. Cyrus went on to speak glowingly of her very close friend.
“She’s been a friend of mine for a really long time; we were actually just realising the other day that next year, we’ll have been friends for ten years. I think that’s my friend that I’ve known the longest, which is really, really weird.”
This isn’t the first time Perry and Cyrus have locked lips, a video of them smooching at one of Miley’s concerts went viral a few years ago.
It gained a bit of controversy after Perry dissed Cyrus on a chat show, claiming she didn’t enjoy it too much this time round. “God knows where that tongue has been,” she said. To which Cyrus replied with this tweet. Ouch.
Since the online scuffle, it seems the two pop stars have made up and are closer than ever. Is a duet in our future?
