Some better excuses for Wayne Rooney ‘liking’ porn on Twitter

The Manchester United and England captain claimed he was just clearing his feed.

Wayne Rooney has stirred up a social media frenzy after ‘liking’ an x-rated videos website on Twitter – but it really didn’t have to be this way.

The Manchester United striker and England captain was busted after appearing to approve of the website Daily Sex Videos while browsing the social media platform.

It was a move that had fans in uproar, shocked at the idea of Rooney enjoying a bit of adult entertainment.

And though the 30-year-old has subsequently removed the site from his list of likes in the aftermath of the incident, his official explanation sounds a little fishy to say the least.

“He was clearing unwanted items from his Twitter feed when he accidentally pressed ‘like’ instead of ‘delete’ on this one,” a spokesperson told The Mirror.

Now, it would be hypocritical of anyone to criticise Rooney for watching porn – a good proportion of the world’s population do it, folks.

However, it’s the tired, unrealistic, excuse that grinds our gears. If you are going to lie, Wayne, make it a good lie – like one of these.

In Training

Wayne Rooney playing for Manchester United

Rooney has faced constant criticism over his weight and fitness levels in the past, so for people to condemn him for what is, on a smaller scale perhaps, a work-out, would be ridiculous.

Dossier of Tossier

Jose Mourinho contemplates the futureWhen in doubt, blame Jose Mourinho – it’s what the Chelsea squad did last season. Wayne could even claim it’s some innovative new warm-up technique from Switzerland.

Three Lions

Go on the defensive – do they know how stressful being England captain is? How miserable it is spending all that time with Jordan Henderson, only to die on your arses in the finals? He needs this.

Blame Terry

John Terry speaks to media during a press conference

If they think Rooney liking porn is bad, then just wait until they see what John Terry has been up to – a response that is guaranteed to divert attention away from the situation at hand regardless of however tame JT’s antics are by comparison. Full kit w**ker.

Bloody Brexit

Nigel Farage of UKIP.

Everyone is worried about Brexit, most people don’t know what it means and it’s coming sooner or later. At least Nigel can’t interfere with our adult content, right?

Wayne was watching porn as part of research for a new book. No idea on the title of said tome or release date though. Just don’t ask…
