A shocking viral video showing a young girl being dragged underwater by a sea lion has gone viral after being uploaded over the weekend.
The child was sitting on a dock near Vancouver, Canada, before she was violently pulled into the water by the animal.
While we’re more used to seeing sharks in shocking viral videos like this one, the large male sea lion can be seen circulating the water near the dock in the clip, before rising up and getting close to the little girl’s face.
It then returns around 15 seconds later, grabbing her dress around her waist and pulling her in backwards.
A man can be seen jumping into the water immediately after her and pushing her back towards dry land. Thankfully, the young girl appears to be unharmed in the footage.
Student Michael Fujiwara was filming the incident at Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf, Richmond, and revealed that the family had been feeding the animal bread before the girl was attacked.
“…It initially jumped up to the girl to read her I guess,” he told CBC. “And then it came back up a second time, but this time grabbing the girl by the waist and dragging her down into the water.”
“They were pretty shaken up. Her family were just in shock,” he added.
Little is known about the girl, as her and her family left the scene quickly afterwards.
The incredible video has racked up over seven million views since being uploaded over the weekend.
The clip has been compared by some to footage of Harambe, the gorilla who dragged a young boy into his enclosure after the child fell.
