The managerial ambition to lead Manchester United still burns strongly in Ryan Giggs – and the latest twist in the saga doesn’t look good for him at all.

Giggs is currently soaking up the sun on holiday, but reports are emerging saying he’s turned down an offer from new United boss Jose Mourinho to bridge the gap between the youth set-up and the senior team. Giggs looks to be on his way out of Old Trafford, ending a 30-year association with the club

As Giggsy contemplates his next managerial manoeuvre, we look back at his 5 greatest United goals below…

Giggs v West Ham

Picking up the ball in acres of space, followed by a couple of drag-backs that leaves two defenders sliding way off in the wrong direction, and suddenly it’s in the net.

Giggs v Leeds

A nut-meg before the unleashing a shot on the outside left boot and into the net surprises even his team-mates.

Giggs v Tottenham

Those long strides and the speed is what took Spurs apart. Just like that.

Giggs v Manchester City

Not the best goal, we’ll admit, but the very first Giggsy Red Devils strikes. This set his career alight… even though it’s practically an own goal scuffer.

Giggs v Arsenal

The classic Giggsy goal. The king of the dribble goes on a super-jinking run against Arsenal in the Fa Cup. Lee Dixon didn’t know what hit him.
