High-performance sports car manufacture Koenigsegg has just created something truly astonishing: a street legal production car capable of reaching speeds of up to 278 mph.
The Agera RS is already being hyped up as being faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and, if a video put together by Racelogic is anything to go by, getting behind the wheel of this bad boy is an incredible experience.
Koenigsegg took the Agera RS for a spin on Nevada’s Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump where the car achieved an average speed of 277.9 mph over the course of two runs.
And thanks to a video recorded by the VBOX HD2 during those two attempts, fans are able to get a look at what that sort of speed looks like, from the driver’s perspective.
While the initial run sees the Agera RS get to a top speed of around 272 mph, it gets even better on the way back with the Koenigsegg creation reaching 284 mph.
The two were averaged together to get the official time but, if the video is anything to go by, the max speed appears to be somewhere in the region of 284.3 mph.
It’s an incredible speed and one that surely comes with a lot of dangers – it would only take the slightest thing to pop up in the road and then, “bang!”, the mother of all high-speed crashes would occur.
Thankfully that doesn’t happen here, leaving viewers with the perfect view of what must have been the most exhilarating drive of all time.
