Conor McGregor proved he’s not only one of the toughest cookies in UFC, but also a decent bloke after paying a surprise visit to a fan at his home in the US.
The MMA star decided to turn up unannounced after spotting a cardboard cut-out of himself, along with an Irish flag, on a balcony during a drive around Los Angeles in his Rolls Royce.
“Every time I come back it seems to be a little bit more crazy with the fans,” the Irishman explains in the clip.
“They treat me like I’m one of their own.”
“I’m gonna come up to you tomorrow! I’m gonna come up to you tomorrow!” McGregor yells to the fan while driving a Rolls Royce and listening to Future.
It is fair to say that the guy is shocked to come face-to-face with the UFC champion, who took time out to sign several shirts and even a pair of the McGregor-endorsed ‘Champ’ Reeboks.
Comparing his emotions to those experienced by McGregor after he knocked out José Aldo, the fan in question was left ecstatic by this memorable encounter.
“Every Saturday before the fight I put up my cardboard cutout, I put up the flag, I put up the banner,” said the fan. “The only thing I can say — and I hope Conor sees this — that feeling he had with Jose Aldo, when he knocked him out and he became the champion … hands down … that’s what I felt like tonight. That’s how amazing it was.”
He will be hoping for more good news at UFC 196 this weekend, where The Notorious will go toe-to-toe with replacement opponent Nate Diaz.
