You certainly wouldn’t think it to look at her but Karlie Kloss has revealed that she was teased by boys at school.
The 23-year-old is one of the most sought-after supermodels in the world, but she has admitted she lacked male attention when she was younger and used to get picked on because of her long legs and lean athletic physique.
Speaking in the May issue of Glamour magazine, she said: “I was absolutely and totally not popular with the boys – partly because I was so good in terms of academics and ballet, but also because I didn’t have time to waste on boys. I did get teased a lot though, because I was so tall and skinny.”
The model kick-started her career at the age of 14 and, although she’s been in the industry for close to ten years, she’s adamant she wouldn’t do anything else.
Karlie said: “I really enjoy the performance aspect of it. Which is why I would have loved to have been working back in the supermodel era: the 70s, 80s and 90s.”
And even though her Instagram is regularly updated with stunning images (see below), Karlie said she’s not all that into social media.
“It can just become a bit of a chore, you know?,” she said.
“Also it’s basically a full time job if you’re on every platform.
‘And you’re projecting the highlight reel of everybody’s life so there is that pressure to always be on and having the ‘best’ moments: maybe not the healthiest thing.”
Glamour magazine is on newsstands on April 7.
