Porn fans planning a trip to the United States may want to steer clear of Utah – if they’re planning to indulge in an adult movie or two.

Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert is on a mission to take down the pornography industry, one erection at a time.

Boasting something of a reputation for wholesome family values, Herbert is set to sign one piece of legislation of particular interest to any fans of flesh-on-flesh action out there.

Officially titled the “S.C.R. 9 Concurrent Resolution on the Public Health Crisis”, this particular resolution declares all porn to be “a public health hazard leading to a broad spectrum of individual and public health impacts and societal harms.”

The move could be a significant step in the wrong direction for the adult film industry, with Utah potentially becoming the first nation to move forward with such a declaration.

There are some interesting caveats to the legislation, which serves to highlight some of the negative effects of porn, the most notable being the treatment of “women as objects and commodities for the viewer’s use.”

While not calling for an out-and-out ban, the legislation is fairly strongly worded when it comes to the subject of porn.

In particular, they warn that pornography “equates violence toward women and children with sex and pain with pleasure, which increases the demand for sex trafficking, prostitution, child sexual abuse images, and child pornography.”

Claiming that porn is both addictive and harmful to society, the comments are likely to spark much debate.

However, one group definitely celebrating the move is the Utah Coalition Against Pornography who took to their Facebook page to call on their supporters to “celebrate and recognise this historic moment!”

What a bunch of wankers.
