UEFA are being put under increasing pressure to strip Real Madrid of the five European Cups Los Blancos won between 1956 and 1960.

A petition put together by ‘Justicia Deportiva’ or Sporting Justice on the website Change.org has attracted widespread supporter with over 50,000 signatures already collected.

“We wish to request, in the name of the values represented by the sport and by democracy, that Real Madrid’s 5 ‘European Cups’ won between 1955-56 and 1959-60, be immediately revoked,” a short statement reads.

“In recognition of the fact that those trophies in no way correspond to the competition recognised today as the UEFA Champions League”.

Real Madrid can claim a record 11th European Cup with a victory over Atletico Madrid in the final later this month, which is due to take place at the San Siro in Milan.

However, if successful, the new petition could see Real Madrid’s current European Cup record of 10 reduced to a rather measly looking five.

That would put them level with Bayern Munich in the all-time standings and two behind Italian giants AC Milan.

Change.org has a good track record of success in these types of petitions with a total of 15,772 victories recorded since the website was set up.

Real Madrid had best hope they beat Atleti then.
