It was announced back in late 2014 that Twin Peaks was returning for a limited series run sometime in 2016 (though this was later delayed to 2017). Now we finally have a first teaser trailer for the new series which you can see below.

The trailer itself is nothing more than the theme song’s original composer Angelo Badalamenti playing the haunting “Laura Palmer’s Theme” over a background of the Washington state forest, where the original series was set.

It’s not the most conventional of teaser trailers, but then very little was conventional about the original series, which originally ran for two seasons back in 1990 and 1991.

The original run of the series concerned the residents of the fictional town of Twin Peaks dealing with an FBI investigation into the murder of local resident Laura Palmer. The show was heavily praised by many and is considered a cult classic.

Very little is currently known about the new series other than it will contain 18 episodes, all of which are being written by original creators David Lynch and Mark Frost.

Many of the show’s original characters are returning and there are rumoured to be some surprise celebrity cameos.

The show will air sometime in 2017.
