Arsenal are stepping things up in the transfer market this week, after rumours about a surprise move for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez emerged online.

Arsene Wenger looks set to invest heavily over the coming months, and he’s reportedly set to make the Columbian international his first signing of the summer.

Elsewhere, Marcus Rashford has backed Manchester United to sign another highly-rated Real Madrid forward, while a host of Premier League clubs are set to battle it out to sign an experience Italian defender.

Gunners aim for James Rodriguez

Arsenal are lining up a move for Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez. According to Spanish television show El Chiringuito, Wenger has made a massive €80m (£70m) bid for the Columbian international.

Despite impressing at the 2014 World Cup, Rodriguez has found himself surplus to requirements at Real, and didn’t even make the bench for the Champions League final last weekend. Manchester United have been linked with Rodriguez over recent weeks, but Wenger may swoop in and take him before Jose Mourinho gets the chance.


Madrid show real interest in Mbappe

Despite strong interest from Arsenal, Monaco’s highly-promising youngster Kylian Mbappe could be playing his football at Real Madrid next season.

As the Independent reports, Zinedine Zidane could be prepared to sell the likes of Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Alvero Morata to make room for the French striker, who is valued at around £135m.


City and Chelsea target Bonucci

Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly set to battle it out to sign Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci for around £48m.

Chelsea boss Conte previously worked with Bonucci at Juventus and with the Italian national team, and The Sun reports that he is prepared to offer the 30-year-old a £115,000 a week contract.


John Terry lining up Bournemouth move

John Terry is on the brink of securing a move away from Chelsea after 19 years at the club, with Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth reportedly set to offer the defender a £100,000 a week contract.

As the London Evening Standard reports, promoted side Brighton has withdrawn their interest in the experienced defender after being unable to match Terry’s wage demands.


Rashford keen on Real Madrid man

Marcus Rashford has revealed that he’d love for Manchester United to sign Spanish striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho’s side have had a £52.4m bid for the player turned down, with Real holding out for closer to £78m.

When asked about the possible move, Rashford told Sky Sports: “At a big club you are going to attract big players and that’s what we want.

“Anyone who can come in and help the club win trophies, which is the ultimate aim, they are the players we want to bring in. Good competition is important if you want to be successful.”


Batshuayi eyeing up move away from Stamford Bridge

Despite scoring the goal that ensured they won the league, Michy Batshuayi had a frustrating first season with Chelsea, after seeing his first-team opportunities limited.

The Belgian striker could move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer, with Don Balon reporting that Spanish side Sevilla are one of the teams interested. Batshuayi has also been linked with moves to West Ham and Newscastle over recent weeks.


Aubameyang on the move to PSG?

Rumoured Manchester United target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly set to move to French giants PSG. As Sport Bild reports, the Gabon international is thought to have agreed a £61m move, with his new contract said to be worth around £12m a year.

Aubameyang has been one of Borrussia Dortmund’s top performers over recent years, scoring 85 goals for the club since arriving in 2013.
