20 years after it became a Brit film phenomenon, Trainspotting is finally getting a sequel.
Danny Boyle’s drama about Edinburgh junkies turned Ewan McGregor into a massive star and launched the careers of Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle.
Now, all five men are returning for a sequel, called simply T2. There’s even an official trailer out to prove it – it’s not much to go on but it confirms the return of the original cast, the start of filming today (May 16) and a release date of January 2017.
Trainspotting’s blend of lightning direction, great performances, a killer soundtrack and memorable quotes made it an instant classic.

The worst toilet in Scotland
We’ve seen some bad pub toilets in our times but none of them have been as bad as this. Desperate to retrieve his lost stash, Renton takes the plunge. Frankly, it’s disgusting.
Overdosing at his dealer’s flat, Renton gets dropped off
We’ve all been there. Okay, maybe we haven’t…
T2 will pick up 20 years after this point – Renton ripping off his friends, choosing life and moving on.
