Details on a top-secret Silver Surfer movie that is currently being developed by Marvel, have found their way online.

A report detailing Disney’s acquisition of much of 20th Century Fox and its various properties has revealed that plans are in place for a movie focusing on the cult superhero character.

The Silver Surfer has so far only been brought to the screen once, in Fox’s lamentable Fantastic Four sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer which starred Jessica Alba and a pre-Captain America Chris Evans.

A humanoid superhero known for his silver skin and penchant for flying through the air on a metallic surfboard seemingly attached to his body, the report indicates that film could take a more family friendly approach to the character, in contrast to Deadpool’s more explicit antics.

Yet plans for a Silver Surfer movie are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Disney’s grand plans for the future of Marvel movies.

The report also indicates that there are plans for a standalone movie focusing on Doctor Doom, the long-time arch enemy of the Fantastic Four and an intriguing anti-hero to rival Spider-Man Nemesis Spawn.

In addition to that, studio bosses are moving forward with plans for a further six X-Men movies which will most likely serve as standalone films for each of the group’s main superhero characters.

There’s no word yet on casting for the new projects, though given Silver Surfer’s metallic skin, the part may not end up going to a household name.

Dr Doom has previously been portrayed by Toby Kebbell in Josh Trank’s poorly received Fantastic Four movie from 2015. Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon also played the Marvel supervillain in the two previous Fantastic Four movies.

Unknown actor Joseph Culp also played the character in Roger Corman’s unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four film, which many claim was only made to ensure the studio held onto the rights to the character.
