There’s a new fan theory swooping around reddit, and it regards an iconic evil father.
In the Star Wars universe – Darth Vader is the infamous father of twins Luke and Leia Skywalker who are the saviours of a galaxy far, far away.

So, reddit user Extract has come up with an interesting theory about the reason behind Darth Vader’s corny dialogue, evident in lines like; “What is thy bidding, my Master?” And “I find your lack of faith disturbing”, and the killer “Be careful not to choke on your aspirations,” while choking Krennic in Rogue One. Har har.

Reddit user Etract claims that Darth Vader comes out with these cringe-y one-liners because he’s a dad, as ‘Vader’ means father in German. He also included former Sith Lords, showing a definite correlation between their names and personalities.

He writers: “Darth Maul was (at least in the movie) an aggressive savage who specialised in melee (lightsaber) combat – true to his name. Darth Tyranus was a tyrant, ruling the CIS with an iron fist – true to his name. Darth Sidious was indeed insidious, as his name suggests.”

So Darth Vader makes terrible dad-like jokes or statements because he’s well, a dad. Oh Extract. The farce is strong with that one.
