There’s no denying that a trip to KFC represents a rare treat and the chance to gorge on that most delicious of fast foods: fried chicken.
Unfortunately for the Colonel, there’s also no refuting the suggestion that KFC comes up a little short in some other departments.
The most obvious of these is with it’s fries – they have simply never been up to scratch compared to rivals like McDonald’s. Ask someone to name the one thing they don’t like about KFC and nine times out of 10 they will probably say the fries, or chips as they are more commonly known here in the UK.
But it appears that KFC is finally taking action after years of complaints about their fries, with the launch of a new trial of rustic fries.
The new rustic fries are the result of several months of testing various different chip recipes in order to find one that best compliments the Colonel’s Original Recipe chicken.
They have settled on a skin on, thick cut, rustic style of chip, with the new rustic fries now being trialed in 10 different KFC locations with a view to rolling out the new chips across the UK should the trial prove successful.
The new rustic KFC fries are available until the end of December from the following locations:
• Tunbridge Wells
Jack Hinchliffe, Innovation Director at KFC UK & Ireland, commented: “Our fans have told us that while we’re always their number one choice for chicken, we’re not yet their number one for fries. Launching this trial has been no small undertaking – we’ve tested every type of potato and cut to find the perfect variety to deliver the best tasting fry.
“With 900 restaurants there’s a lot to consider – but the most important factor for us is taste. We want our customers to tell us what they think and only if you like them will they hit the menu permanently.”
Visit KFC now and you can also enjoy the fried chicken giant’s bestselling sandwich, the double down, which is due to be taken off the KFC menu in the coming days. Do it. Do it now.
