The World’s First Gender-Neutral Beer Has Arrived

By Jack Beresford

June 09, 2017

The world’s first gender-neutral beer has been unveiled by a Brooklyn brewery eager to support New York City’s Pride Week and promote a message of support for gender fluidity.

It’s called “Gender Neutral” and is a citrus-infused pale lager that sounds perfect for a spot of summertime drinking.

Created by Threes Brewery, the beer is being debuted at a special “human rights are gender neutral party” later this month.

It’s a beer with a good cause behind it too, with plans afoot to donate part of the profits from the launch night and subsequent sales to the Human Rights Campaign.

“As we grow and are starting to get some attention, we think it’s incumbent upon us to use whatever platform we have to make a difference about issues we care deeply about,” the brewery’s co-founder explained in an interview with Patch.

“A lot of those themes broadly centre around human rights. More specifically, LGBTQ rights are a topic close to most of the team here. We think it’s ridiculous that in 2017 this is an issue, but apparently it still is.”

The brewery has made something of a name for itself over in the US, thanks to a string of distinctively-named beers that include “I Hate Myself,” “Constant Disappointment,” and “Echo of Nothing.”

This may be their best yet though.
