The Smiths might not be reforming anytime soon, but the seminal Manchester group are about to release a new single.
Morrissey fan site True-To-You is reporting that the group will soon vinyl single featuring two unheard tracks from the archives.
True-To-You, which frequently publishes blog posts from Morrissey himself, is alleging that the single will include a demo version of Smiths classic The Boy With The Thorn In His Side.
The B-side will is also thought to feature an unreleased version of Rubber Ring.
The artwork for the vinyl release has also been revealed. In true Smiths style, the Morrissey-designed cover features a single monochrome image of Murder on the Orient Express actor Albert Finney.
It’s been a frustrating time for Smiths fans recently, after Marr revealed that the group nearly got together back in 2008. The legendary guitarist recently said he met Morrissey to discuss the possibility of a return, but the talks later broke down.
Johnny Marr, Morrissey, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce formed The Smiths in 1982. They released four albums before splitting in 1986.
Their single will allegedly be released soon – but how soon is now?
