Fifty Shades leads the way at the Razzies

It should have been entitled Fifty Shades of Shite for more than one reason, and now the film that achieved what we thought was impossible in being nearly as bad as the book, is getting the recognition it so deserves.

The 2015 Golden Raspberry nominations feature a whopping six nods for Fifty Shades of Grey, including worst picture, worst director, worst actor and worst actress.

The awards, which were launched back in 1980, form a welcome alterative to Awards’ season fawning and honouring which kickstarted with last week’s Golden Globes.

Fifty Shades director Sam Taylor-Johnson is up for worst director, while Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are cited for worst screen combo.

Elsewhere, Eddie Redmayne, tipped for an Oscar nomination for his role in The Danish Girl, is in contention for worst supporting actor for playing villain Balem Abrasax in Jupiter Ascending.

Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum also received nods for the same film for worst actress and worst actor respectively. And former Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow has also been noted for a diabolical performance in comedy heist Mortdecai.

It’s not all bad news in Hollywood, as the Razzie Redeemer Award includes nominations for Sylvester Stallone in Creed, and director Elizabeth Banks for Pitch Perfect 2. The winners of the Razzies will be announced during a special ceremony in Hollywood on the night before the Oscars, February 27.

The majority of nominees are unsurprisingly not expected to attend, although Sandra Bullock did turn up back in 2010 to collect her worst actress award for All About Steve.
