The Kanye West Effect: Are You A Narcissist?

Are you a narcissist? Here are a few key signs to look out for.

Kanye West is a hot topic at the moment, mostly due to his widely reported and unfortunate breakdown. His situation begs the question, “What caused this?”

West is well-known for his bombastic and unabashed behaviour, prompting many to brand him as a classic narcissist. A label that many believe is a disguise for someone struggling with a bit of serious self-doubt.

While there may be many reasons why he’s at this point, his alleged narcissist personality could have been a catalyst for this setback.

We can’t help Kanye from here, but we can lay out the ways to spot egomania inwardly and outwardly.

So, are you on the ‘ME, ME, ME’ spectrum?

1

Are You A Good Listener?

Narcissists are known for being selectively deaf, according to Susan Heitler Ph.D. “How well a person listens is a primary indicator of mental health or narcissism.” They are more likely to dominate conversations and talk over others.

2

Are you a Know It All?

There’s a tendency for people with narcissist traits to give unwarranted advice. They consider the rest of us complete doobs with an inability to get through each day. True story.

3

Do You Think Rules Are For Losers?

Tall Man Syndrome is another aspect of narcissism, similar to small dogs marching up to much larger ones like they own the place. You don’t; you’re a chihuahua, Donald Trump. Pay your taxes.

4

Can You Charm Everyone’s Pants Off?

Narcissists are seriously charming and socially agile. They can float around a room like an Emperor butterfly.

5

Do You Personalise Everything?

The clinical term personalising or consistently seeing another person’s opinions as a slight against you is a classic indicator of narcissism. Classic. So if you’re offended by this entire article, you’re probably a level 100 Kanye.
Nevertheless, we love us some Mr. West and hope he makes a full recovery so he can continue uniting the narcissists of the world.
