Top football clubs around the world are more determined to find talented youngsters than ever before, and they’re willing to spend big to do it.
Manchester City previously signed 13-year-old Finley Burns from Southend for a staggering £175,000 in one of the most surprising bits of business of recent years, and it just goes to show that clubs are looking to snap up players at younger ages than ever before.
In fact, some of the most expensive players of recent times have been under the age of 20, and most of them have gone on to have illustrious careers.
Take a look back at the most expensive teenagers in world football below:
Sergio Aguero moved from Independiente to Atletico Madrid at the age of 17 for £15m in 2006. It was no surprise to see him demand such a high fee, especially after he made his debut for Independiente at the age of just 14 and scoring 23 goals in 54 appearances. Atletico more than recouped their money after selling the prolific striker to Manchester City for £38m in 2011.
