Super Mario is finally heading to mobile phones.
Nintendo’s beloved plumber has been a fixture on consoles for decades, leaving many to wonder when he’d make the jump to smarphone.
Now it’s officially happening.
Side-scrolling platform game Super Mario Run will be released through the App Store this December thanks to a team-up between Nintendo and Apple.
“You can play it one handed, while you’re holding onto the handle on the subway, while eating a hamburger, or even an Apple.”
The announcement was made at Apple’s media event in San Francisco, where Tim Cook and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto unveiled the title and some nifty gameplay footage that looks like classic Mazza.
“The magic of Mario is anyone can pick up and start playing, and now we’ve made it even easier,” said Miyamoto.
“You can even play it one handed, while you’re holding onto the handle on the subway, while eating a hamburger, or even an Apple.
“I want everyone around the world to enjoy Mario, and they’ll be able to enjoy it on iOS first.”
So when you’ve unwrapped you new iPhone 7 this Christmas, the first thing you need to do is get Super Mario Run, which will cost a one-off fee but won’t require any annoying in-app purchases.
We’re sensing this’ll be a Pokémon Go killer.
