Subway lives by the mantra that you can “eat fresh” for less with their sandwiches but one insider has suggested otherwise.

In fact, according to reddit user and supposed employee subwayworkeruk, some subs should be avoided altogether.

Speaking on the popular social media platform, the anonymous employee decided to dish the dirt on goings on behind that most hallowed of glass counters.

Offering to answer any and all questions from Subway fans, the unnamed worker didn’t hold back when asked to name the subs he would recommend and which he would avoid.

And it is bad news for chicken fans, with the mystery worker warning against both chipotle chicken and teriyaki chicken subs.

“Chicken is given a two day shelf life, once in the counter,” the insider explained.

“However these two bypass this and get four days, and can get a little stinky.”

Worse still, it would appear that the chicken may not be 100% chicken, with the worker claiming it is 84% meat with starch and water added for good measure.

They did offer more positive news elsewhere and here was a clear winner when it came to the freshest available.

“I’d recommend anything else, Subway (at least my Subway) is very strict on quality control and dates. Steak is probably the freshest, and safest.”

The revelations come hot on the heels of the leaking of what many believe to be the secret recipe for Colonel Sanders’ Kentucky Fried Chicken, it’s just the latest example of how the internet is striking back against fast food chains far and wide – McDonald’s, you have been warned.
