Disney are planning to release a staggering 6 Star Wars movies by 2020, but some people still can’t get enough of the sci-fi saga…

A petition has been launched urging Netflix to develop a new series based around Star Wars’ Old Republic narrative.

Fans are urging the streaming service to tell “the stories from over 3,000 years before the Battle of Yavin be told to both new and old fans of the franchise.”

The petition, set up by Jasmine St-Philippe – has already racked up over 70,000 signatures, which is just short of its 75,000 target.

The Old Republic story is based on the Knights of the Republic videogames, and the MMORPG game Stars Wars: The Old Republic.

The games focus on characters such as Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Bastila Shan, Darth Traya and Meetra Surik.

The petition says: “The Old Republic era is a pivotal point in the Star Wars timeline because that’s where everything changed, from the Jedi Civil War and the fall of Revan, the First Jedi Purge, and an omnipresent darkness that not only watched the chaos from afar but also kick-started the downfall.”

It also claims that Netflix would be the perfect home for the series, as they can “tell these stories as they were meant to be portrayed: dark, foreboding, and a touch on the mature side.”

Head over to change.org if you want to see a Old Republic series on Netflix soon.

Can’t get enough Star Wars? You don’t have to wait long until the next film is released, as spin-off Rogue One arrives on December 16, 2016. Watch a trailer below:
