Former Tottenham midfielder and Brazil international Paulinho is facing deportation from China and it’s all because of an adult movie star by the name of Tsukasa Aoi.

The 28-year-old moved to the Far East from Spurs back in 2015 after struggling to hold down a first team place, signing for Guangzhou Evergrande.

He’s gone on to impress in China, scoring 12 goals in 47 games for his super-wealthy employers, earning a recall to the national team in the process, most recently scoring a hat-trick in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.

But away from the pitch, Paulinho has found a way to seriously piss off the locals after posing alongside Japanese adult movie star Aoi in a betting advert for the company Letou.

Here’s the kicker; not only is porn illegal in China but so is betting, making Paulinho’s misdemeanour something of a double whammy.

Reports now suggest the Brazilian is likely to face serious questions over his actions, especially as he already ranks among the Chinese Super League’s best paid players.

After leaving Tottenham, Paulinho went from wages of £55,000-a-week to £85,000-a-week, which begs the question: why does he even need to star in a betting ad?

The Brazilian now faces an anxious wait to discover his fate.
