South Park is returning to the world of gaming with a new release, hilariously subtitled The Fractured But Whole.

The game, a sequel to 2014’s RPG South Park: The Stick Of Truth, has just put out its first trailer and it’s probably the funniest two-and-a-half-minutes you’ll spend today.

The teaser for Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s new South Park takes some glee in ripping the piss out of Marvel and DC superhero movies and Star Wars.

Cartman takes centre stage in the trailer, mapping out a vision for a “cinematic universe” for South Park’s very own superheroes.

Naturally, it all has to kick off with Cartman’s The Coon Movie before spinning off into everything from The Human Kite to Professor Chaos and Coon vs Supercraig.

“Why did we become superheroes?” Cartman asks. “We dedicate our lives to fighting crime for one reason: to make $1 billion on a superhero franchise.”

A sarcastic quip aimed at Hollywood’s propensity for carpet-bombing cinemas and TV screens with every kind of superhero imaginable.

The official synopsis for the game reads: “In the quiet mountain town of South Park, darkness has spread across the land. A new power is rising to combat this evil. An entire squad of superheroes will rise, led by a nocturnal scavenger sworn to clean the trash can of South Park society.

“The kids are playing superheroes, and Cartman is determined to turn Coon and Friends into the biggest superhero franchise of all time. However, the villainous Professor Chaos emerges with an evil plan to eliminate Coon and Friends. The heroes need to work as a team to fight the chaos and terror that that grips the town.”

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC from December 6.
