Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner may have revealed not one but two major spoilers ahead of the new season of Game of Thrones.

HBO is keeping details of what the penultimate series of the epic fantasy drama series will entail closely under wraps ahead of its return later this year.

Turner may have already let the cat out of the bag though after making several revealing statements in an interview with SFC magazine.

They concerned the possible arrival of the White Walkers, the zombie-like army that has been lurking beyond the wall for much of the show so far, and the possible direction her character, Sansa Stark, will take in the new series.

It all started when Turner was asked about the potential return of Hodor, who was last seen warding off an attack from undead forces and looked likely to suffer a grim fate as a result.

Asked about his potential return, Turner teased that “anything can happen” adding that “I’d love to have [actor] Kristian [Nairn] back, but Hodor as a white Walker might be slightly terrifying.”

Yet the big revelations concerned Sansa’s relationship with Jon Snow and the possibility of her one day overthrowing her brother and seizing power for herself.

“She definitely feels left out. There’s a little bit of jealousy there. She feels like she deserves the title of Queen in the North,” Turner said.

“All she wants is the respect of her brother, and she feels like she’s not getting that. Fair enough!”

One theory regularly put forward by fans of the series posits the potential for Sansa to ultimately go up against Jon and take the Iron Throne for herself and it’s a notion Turner does little to dismiss.

“She’s very strong and steely this season. She’s in it for herself. Whether that means going a bit dark… you’ll have to see.”

It’s just one of several theories currently doing the rounds, including one that suggests Cersei Lannister could ultimately be slain by her brother Jamie. Ultimately, we’ll not know either way until the show returns.

Game of Thrones is back on 16 July.
