The saying may go that “nice guys finish last” but, in reality, the opposite may be true, particularly when it comes to sex.
A study from The British Journal of Psychology claims that kinder people actually have more sex, in news that will come as a shock to bad boys and love rats the world over.
Some 192 single women and 105 single men took part in a series of tests designed to measure altruism (doing good deeds) as well as their success when it came to dating and mating.
The research concluded that the nicer a person was, the more sex they tended to have.
In a surprise twist, the study also revealed that those guys who ranked highly for altruism actually had a higher number of casual sexual partners too.
The study authors put the findings to human nature, with previous research highlighting how, in the primitive days of man, male hunter-gatherers were often judged by females for their generosity when it came to sharing food, clothing and basic tools.
So if you are one of those ‘treat them mean, keep them keen’ type of fellas, it might be time to rethink your strategy – 2016 is the year of the nice guy.
