Roy Hodgson Strictly win more likely than England World Cup glory in 2018

Roy Hodgson has a better chance of winning the next series of Strictly Come Dancing than England do winning the 2018 World Cup.

That’s according to the bookmakers, with Ladbrokes and Smartbets putting their collective heads together to produce a list of things more likely to happen than a Three Lions triumph in Russia.

England are 20/1 to win the World Cup in two years’ time, which puts the team at a longer price than the odds of the next James Bond being female, which stand at 12/1.

Donald Trump is also a shorter price to become the next President of the United States at 3/1 while the odds of discovering alien life before 2050 are set at 5/1.

Alex Kostin of said: “It shouldn’t come as any surprise that the odds for England to win the next World Cup are the longest ever offered for the side in an international tournament.

“It says it all that it’s far more likely aliens are discovered in our lifetime than England lift the trophy.”

Despite last week’s European Union Referendum result, the United Kingdom can be backed at just 5/1 to rejoin the EU in arguably the most damning indictment of England’s chances.

With Kim Kardashian, meanwhile, just 18/1 to retire from public life, it would appear that the bookmakers are backing against an England victory in 2018 and you would be hard-pressed to find anyone going against them.

Still, it would be nice to see Hodgson shaking his funky stuff on primetime BBC One, if nothing else.

Just imagine…

Make it happen Woy – you may have failed to provide entertainment on the pitch but you can still offer some off it.
