Ronda Rousey is approaching her professional wrestling debut with just the same level of intensity as an MMA bout and WWE has got the video to prove it.
When the UFC icon first announced she was moving into the world of wrestling, there were plenty who accused her of taking the easy way out.
That would be entirely understandable, of course, given the humiliation she suffered in her last two MMA bouts.
Yet while wrestling is a lot of smoke and mirrors, sports entertainment still requires well trained athletes who are willing to put their bodies on the line.
And in a move to highlight just how seriously she is taking her WWE debut at WrestleMania, Rousey has gone and recorded a video showcasing her intense training regime.
It’s not for the faint of heart, with Rousey going through a relentless four-hour training session.
No breaks are allowed, with Rousey going through a warm-up, some in-ring training, a bit of judo, some bag-work and strength conditioning.
Rousey makes no bones about the fact it was “gruelling” either.
Asked if she thought her WrestleMania opponent Stephanie McMahon was going through similar training, the MMA offers the perfect response: she laughs.
So next time someone tries to suggest Rousey has taken the easy way out, won’t offer much to WWE and won’t be ready for her wrestling debut, get them to watch this.
