Robert De Niro is going back to his gangster movie roots after signing up to star in a new mafia series.
The legendary actor will appear in a new Amazon series alongside Julianne Moore, Deadline reports.
Amazon is collaborating with the Weinstein Company on the drama, which is being written and directed by Silver Linings Playbook filmmaker David O Russell.
The company has reached a two-season deal for the new show worth a reported $160m.
De Niro has previously worked with O Russell on Joy, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.
He famously played mafia man James Conway in Goodfellas, as well as the young Vito Corleone in The Godfather: Part II.
The new series will mark the actor’s first major TV role following cameos in 30 Rock and Extras over the years.
Further details from the series has yet to be confirmed.
