Ready Player One This looks awesome.

The first full-length trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One has landed with Ernest Cline, the author of the best-selling novel the film is based on, already hyping up the movie to come.

Cline was in attendance for a live event at Austin, Texas, where the trailer was debuted at the Alamo Drafthouse. He took part in a Facebook Q&A afterwards, and offered fans a glimpse of what to expect from the movie, which he has already seen.

“If Willy Wonka was a video game designer instead of a candy maker and he held his golden ticket contest inside the worlds greatest video game — that’s the essence of what the story is,” he explained during the event.

The full length trailer is certainly packed full of pop culture references and promises to be a pretty major cinematic event.

Cline co-wrote the script for the movie alongside Zack Penn.

Set in the year 2045 with the world on the brink of collapse, the story follows the exploits of Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) an avid VR gamer who finds the first clue in a race to discover the Easter Egg hidden inside an expensive digital universe known as the Oasis.

Whoever finds the Egg will inherit a $250 billion fortune left behind inside the game by the now-deceased creator of the game.
