Quentin Tarantino has found his Charles Manson for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

An actor better known for his small screen work has been cast in the role.

Quentin Tarantino has finished work on the script for his ninth film and it’s already shaping up to be something extraordinary. The script is currently doing the rounds with all the major studios and has already drawn comparison with Pulp Fiction both thematically and structurally. It was previously reported that the 54-year-old was putting together a film focusing on the infamous Manson Family murders. However, a report from Deadline indicates that the script, which is currently being referred to as #9, will be a multi-threaded story with the Manson murders just one of several stories set to play out. #9 will be set in Los Angeles, in and around the 1960s and early 1970s and has already attracted interest from several big names. Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Brad Pitt all all thought to have held discussions with Tarantino about starring in the film. Margot Robbie is also rumoured to be interested in appearing in the film, with reports previously suggesting the Wolf of Wall Street actress was being lined up for the part of a fictionalised version of Sharon Tate. Tate was one of the five people murdered during the 1969 incident that saw members of Manson’s family invade the home she shared with her husband Roman Polanskia in California. Tate was pregnant at the time of her death. Quentin Tarantino has found the man to play Charles Manson in his next film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – and it’s a suitably leftfield choice from the Pulp Fiction director.

The film, which is set in Hollywood in 1969 against the backdrop of the Manson family murders, will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.Æ¿DiCaprio is playing a fictional former TV star named Rick Dalton, who happens to live next door to the real-life Sharon Tate, one of the victims of the Manson murders, who is being played by Margot Robbie.

Pitt, meanwhile, is taking on the role of Dalton’s stunt double Cliff Booth in a film that will blend fictional and historical figures.

Manson will be among those to feature with The Wrap revealing that Damon Herriman has been cast as the notorious cult leader and killer whose “family” committed a series of heinous crimes in the 1960s.

Best known for his work on TV shows like Justified and Quarry, Herriman appears well suited for the role in terms of his physicality and range.

Other notable casting additions include Rumer Willis as real-life actress Joanna Pettet. And Dreama Walker who will portray actress and singer Connie Stevens.

Costa Ronin has been cast as real-life murder victim Voytek Frykowski while actresses Margaret Qualley, Madisen Beaty, and Victoria Pedretti have been recruited to play fictional characters.

Despite insisting that the Manson murders will serve as only one part of a larger, overarching story about life in Hollywood in the 1960s, Tarantino has come in for some criticism over his decision to include the crime.
