Just a week after it was reported that Pornhub are making your viewing habits more secure than ever, it’s been revealed that the site has been forced to hand over compromising data about its users.

A new order from the federal court in California means that the adult movie site will release private details about users viewing habits.

Users’ names, email addresses, viewing history and IP addresses will also be revealed as part of the order, which could present serious privacy issues for the site.

It all comes after users shared a series of recently released Hollywood movies on the site, and thousands of users took to the site to watch copyrighted material such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Most customers don’t necessarily need to panic about the new data release. However, if you’re one of the people who’s been uploaded entire mainstream movies to the site, it might be time to start worrying…

Speaking about the copyright infringements, Pornhub said: “We take claims of copyrighting infringement seriously.”

“Responses may include removing, blocking or disabling access to material claimed to be the subject of infringing activity, terminating the user’s access to PornHub, or all of the foregoing,” he added.

We don’t expect Pornhub to take the data handover without a fight. After all, the site recently announced that it was going head to head with the American government to protect our online security.
