Pokemon Go proving more popular than porn on Google

It’s barely even been a week since Pokemon Go was released but the latest game in the popular Nintendo franchise is already proving more popular than porn – and that’s no mean feat.

A free-to-play augmented reality game that interacts with your mobile device, allowing gamers to capture, battle and trade virtual Pokemon that appear in the real world, the game is already proving popular with fans old and new.

In fact, over the weekend Google trends revealed that searches for Pokemon Go, at one point, edged ahead of searches for porn.

Porn searches remain the gold standard by which all Google search terms are judged, so Pokemon Go’s developers must undoubtedly be delighted by this development.

It follows hot on the heels of a similar post-EU referendum surge in the number of people searching for the term Brexit.

In the immediate aftermath of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, the number of people searching for the term coined during the campaign surged above porn at one point.

Skin flicks have certainly taken a bashing, pardon the phrase, of late with figures released by Pornhub highlighting the number of people ditching the popular streaming site in favour of watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

Porn filmmakers may want to think about upping their game.
