It’s Official: Pizza Is A Healthier Breakfast Option Than Cereal

Breakfast pizza just became the most important meal of the day.

Pizza really is the meal for every occasion.

Perfect when hot for lunch or dinner, ‘Za is also pretty darn delicious when consumed cold, the morning after the night before, usually while nursing a hangover.

It’s got everything the body needs to start the day; carbs, protein, a few vegetables, some fruit (tomato counts) and cheese. Lots of cheese.

Okay, so pizza might not be the healthiest choice in today’s nutrition-conscious society but one dietician reckons it may be a better option than another standard breakfast favourite: cereal.

Chelsey Amer has made a career out of offering nutrition advice to the masses and, to her way of thinking, a slice of pizza isn’t actually the worst way to start a day. Not by a long shot.

“You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories,” she explained in an interview with The Daily Meal.

“However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning.”

Amer is keen to stress that while pizza isn’t the healthiest option, it represents a far more balanced meal than most standard cereals.

“Plus, a slice of pizza contains more fat and much less sugar than most cold cereals, so you will not experience a quick sugar crash,” Amer added.
