Funzing is set to play host to the first ever pizza crawl in London and it already sounds like a dream.
The tables have well and truly turned from the time when Saturdays were spent getting boozed up, with pizza something of a post-pub takeaway afterthought.
Now the beers are playing second fiddle to an exploration of pizza in its many glorious forms and it’s all thanks to the arrival of events like London’s newly created Pizza Crawl.
Instead of plotting a course around some of the best pubs on offer in the capital, Za-lovers can embark on a two-hour odyssey through the streets of East London, sampling some of the city’s finest and most exquisite pizzas.
The event has been put together on Funzing.com, the UK’s biggest marketplace for unique experiences and, most importantly, is suitable for meat-eaters, veggies and vegans alike.
Pizza fans on the crawl will also be joined by an expert who has dedicated their life to all things dough-based.
The pizzas on offer won’t be your run-of-the-mill Margheritas either, with each venue set to showcase their biggest and best signature pizzas.
Alcoholic accompaniment is optional but could end up detracting from your enjoyment of the pizza on hand. You’ll want to savour these slices like a fine wine.
In any case, the event represents the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded pizza fans, where you can debate things like the merits of deep-pan, whether cheesy crusts are acceptable and what the future holds for ham and pineapple as we know it.
Tickets are on sale now and priced at £20, which is value for money when you consider the amount of pizza on offer.
More importantly, if the event proves popular, this could prove the start of a pizza revolution. Or should that be Pizolution? On second thoughts, let’s just stick with Pizza Revolution.
