As the final Playboy magazine featuring nude models rests on the shelves, it’s worth noting that former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson graced its cover on many occasions.
No other celebrity has graced the Playboy cover more than Anderson, who was first photographed for the magazine in 1989. In total, Anderson has appeared on the cover 14 times from her 15 photoshoots.
So it’s no wonder that the magazine’s owner Hugh Hefner immediately turned to the veteran hellraiser to grace its final cover to end its 62-year tradition of nude models.
Here, Loaded takes a look at some of the best work Anderson has done which didn’t involve her running across a beach in slow-motion.
Anderson’s first cover appeared in October 1989, shortly after her move from Vancouver to LA to establish her modelling career. Playboy subsequently chose her as Playmate Of The Month in their February 1990 issue, in which she appeared as the centrefold. This cover image was shot before Anderson had breast surgery and set her off on her path to fame. (The surgery and her fame being entirely unconnected, of course.)
By 1994, Anderson was at the height of her fame, having played lifeguard CJ Parker on Baywatch since 1992. She also played Tool Time Girl in the successful US sitcom Home Improvements.
Fast forward to 1999 and Pammie had left her Baywatch days behind her to play Valerie Lyons in the frankly godawful VIP. Showing more humour than VIP, Anderson often poked fun at her tabloid image and, ten years since her first Playboy cover, she was looking as good as ever.
Anderson left little to the imagination for a 2007 cover whose dollar-sign undies was the definition of a money shot. This cover marks the middle of a few otherwise barren years for the actress, who went pretty silent, apart from a documentary on E! Network. Her sitcom Stacked, in which she played a reformed party animal, flopped and she was nearing the end of her longtime on-off relationship with Motley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
Saving the best for last, Pammie’s final nude shot for Playboy is out now. Away from looking decent at 49, Anderson has become a regular on reality TV, appearing on Dancing On Ice in the UK in 2013, as well as being a high-profile vegan campaigner for animal rights charity PETA and lobbying President Obama to legalise cannabis. She recently divorced film producer Rick Salomon and is due to appear in the drama The People Garden. And she has left Playboy readers with some mammar… memories to treasure.
