Nigel Farage caught out by LBC caller’s question on integration

Nigel Farage is no stranger to looking foolish.

As two-time leader of UKIP, our Nige was never more than a week away from some major disaster that saw him quickly become the butt of the joke on social media.

There was the time he tried to blame being late for an interview on immigrants, or the time he admitted, mere hours after the UK had voted to leave the EU, that the whole £350 million NHS pledge thing may have been a lie.

And let’s not forget the time he campaigned under a sign that translated as the word “fanny” in certain countries.

So it’s somewhat appropriate that his post-UKIP career continues with the theme of Farage looking the fool, after the new LBC radio host was caught out in sensational style by one rather crafty caller.

His name was Richard and he had called in from Pembrokeshire to question Farage on his stance that foreigners in the UK should be trying to speak English.

“I was just going back to a point you said earlier about integration and how important it is and one of my big concerns is people coming to this country and not actually learning English – I don’t see how you can integrate if you don’t learn the language of the country,” he said.

Farage replied that he “couldn’t agree more” as well as telling a rather unpleasant story about people having the gall to speak in foreign languages while he was on a train,

Then Richard delivered his killer blow.

“Just on that, I was wondering why you’ve spent more than 20 years living in Belgium and yet you don’t speak a word of Flemish, German or French?”

Farage was floundering, attempting to jokingly claim he was capable of reading a French wine line.

But that just gave Richard more ammo, as he noted Nigel’s penchant for drinking vintages at around £100 a pop on expenses.

From there it was mike drop time.

Can’t wait for next week’s show, Nigel!
