Marvel fans served up a veritable feast for fans during Thursday’s Netflix panel event at the annual San Diego Comic Convention.
Not only did they get a glimpse of the upcoming season of Luke Cage but there was also the confirmation that Daredevil will return for a third series.
But the major talking points came with the release of sneak peak footage from Iron Fist as well as the revelation that Netflix fans are set to get their very own Avengers-style ensemble.
The Defenders will bring together all of Netflix’s current roster of Marvel heroes, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist.
Confirmed via a teaser trailer that has since been released online, the clip brings together letters from each of the assembled superheroes logos to spell out the word defend.
Not much is known about the new series with a short blurb stating: “Marvel’s The Defenders will unite Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, as they face their biggest threat yet.”
Though no release date has yet been confirmed, fans will have plenty to keep them busy with Luke Cage getting his own series and Iron Fist arriving next year.
Iron Fist centres are one Danny Rand, played by Game of Thrones star Finn Jones, who is an orphan intent on revenge against his family’s killers and armed with the martial arts skills to exact just that.
Netflix treated fans to a brief glimpse of what to expect at SDCC and the omens look good.
It’s shaping up to be a busy couple of years for Marvel and Netflix.
