It's all because he got his ass whopped apparently

The only man to beat Conor McGregor in the UFC claims talk of a super fight between McGregor and boxer Floyd Mayweather is just a stunt because McGregor got ‘his ass whopped.’

Nate Diaz defeated McGregor at UFC 196 in a proposed rematch slated for UFC 200 only for McGregor to be pulled because of his refusal to engage in media duties.

In the meantime, Conor McGregor’s proposed super fight has swept the media with many trying to figure out will they actually do the fight, with New Years Eve bandied about as a possible date.

Diaz though is having none of it.

He explained to the MMA Hour: “I hear all this stuff about Mayweather. All that talk is just a publicity stunt because he got his ass whooped. Mayweather is just a publicity stunt. It’s great for both those guys now. Boxing fans are gonna start following Conor and MMA fans are gonna start looking at Mayweather. They both win.

“The Mayweather stuff is all fake and phoney. I call your bluff Conor, go fight Mayweather. Mayweather would whoop is ass in a boxing match. Mayweather is the best boxer there is at winning fights.”

Diaz also allayed fears that McGregor and Diaz rematch wouldn’t happen, with UFC president Dana White reportedly unhappy with how his last meeting with Diaz went.

The Stockton, California native though dismissed those fears as ‘exaggerated’.

He explained: “Those reports were exaggerated. It wasn’t the best meeting but it wasn’t the worst either.

“They were cool, I was cool, it was just business. This seems like it’s gonna be a big fight and I wanna get compensated. We’re working on it and I think things are gonna work out.”
