Nude photographs of Melania Trump have made their way to the front pages of The New York Post over the last few days – but right-wing commentators don’t see this as another spanner in the works for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
The Post’s front-page headline “Menage a Trump” accompanied a naked picture of the Slovenian-born model, taken in 1995 when Melania was working as a model.
Senior Trump adviser Jason Miller dismissed the images as damaging, telling CNN: “They’re a celebration of the human body as art.”
Conservative gas bag Rush Limbaugh even weighed into the debate, claiming that the photos might actually gain support from single white men and the LGBTQ.
“Have you seen The New York Post again with nude photos of Melania Trump?” Limbaugh asked on air. “And today these are, what would you call, girl-on-girl I think is the – nude girl-on-girl photos with Melania and other women.
“I think this probably might wrap up the LGBTQ vote for Trump. You never know how these things are seen. You never know.”
Limbaugh went on to compare the Melania Trump images to the kind that the Kardashians flood onto social media.
Stopping short of backing Kim and Kanye for President and First Lady, he added: “The single, white male vote, particularly the… college-educated white male vote.
“Yeah, I mean, isn’t this kind of stuff that makes people big stars today on Twitter and Facebook, TMZ? I mean, this is just the Kardashians in a sense of the subject type stuff. I mean, it’s relatable.”
