The dog, the hat, the car, the boot… We all have our Monopoly playing piece of choice, but that could all be about to change.
The makers of the classic board game have announced plans to ditch all of the game’s pieces as part of a revamp later this year, and we just don’t know what to think anymore.
It’s not all bad news though. Our favourite pieces might be on the way out, but we’ll all have the chance the vote for the ones we want them to be replaced with.
From now until January 31, fans of the game can vote for the new pieces they want to see here.

There’s a set list to choose from, which could be a blessing too – we can only imagine the kind of smutty things we’d be playing with if it was totally down to the public.
The current pieces are included in the 50 item shortlist, which also features penguins, rubber ducks, bunny slippers and all kinds of unusual stuff.
“The Monopoly Token Madness Vote lets our passionate fans choose all eight tokens in the Monopoly game and no token – not even Scottie dog – is safe,” said Jonathan Berkowitz, senior vice president of marketing at Hasbro Gaming.

“Only time will tell if fans will decide to stay with the classics, keep a few favourites, or pick an entirely new line up of tokens.”
The news could come as a concern for some die-hard fans of the game, and letting us all decide the new tokens might not necessarily be a good thing either…
After all, as 2016 showed us, things don’t always go well when they’re decided by public vote.
