Michael Owen is a footballer who has always divided the fans; some hate him, others just about tolerate him.
As a pundit though, it would appear most are of the opinion that he’s pretty awful – the kind of analyst that makes Jamie Redknapp sound intelligent, even when he’s analyzing the number of fingers a particular player is holding up.
So when Owen says something daft or just plain wrong, the good folk of Twitter are ready and willing to put him in his place.
Take for instance, this tweet, which came in the hours after the close of the summer transfer window.
In fairness to Owen he probably thought he was on safe ground in praising Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, but he was wrong.
I like the way Klopp clears out players he doesn’t need. No messing. Nothing worse than having senior pro’s floating round not contributing.

The irony of this statement was not lost on Owen’s followers and so it began…

Did you completely forget the last five years of your career?

Some thought it was a joke…

But that probably gives Owen too much credit…

Maybe have a break from the Twitter for a bit, Michael. Go watch a film…oh wait, forgot about that.
