Michael Fassbender is in the middle of promoting his next film, Assassin’s Creed, based on the popular videogame. And during his visit to the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he revealed what he got up to behind the scenes.

The cast and crew had to travel to Almería, in the south of Spain, to film some scenes of the movie. This desert-like area is known for having acted as the set for a huge number of Westerns (Clint Eastwood pretty much spent all his early years stuck there), so Fassbender thought it would be a great idea to use the studio village as a paintball set.

As he told Fallon, the paintball war went a bit wild, especially after having a few drinks beforehand at the saloon, so the adventure ended up with Fassbender sporting a few bruises and blood streaming down his face. We can only hope this will show up in the DVD extras!
